By Chris Wharton Posted March 25, 2018 07:29:04The Conservative Party of Canada (CPAC) is a Canadian political party, founded in 1946.
Its members include some of Canada’s most prominent figures, including Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The party has won over a large segment of Canadian society, and it is also the subject of a significant investigation by Canadian media outlets.
As a result, CPAC attendees and their guests will likely be more familiar with the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAP) than with any other political convention.CPAC is the annual gathering of conservative leaders in Washington, D.C. This year, however, CPAP has decided to expand its reach beyond its current base of conservative political leaders.
As of Monday, March 26, the conference will include more than 20 speakers, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Joe Biden, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
In its press release announcing the new event, CPACC said it was “making an announcement to allow the press to take advantage of the opportunity to attend a truly global event.”
In a way, the event’s new location has been a welcome change, since the convention’s main venue, the Omni Shoreham in Philadelphia, was closed down by the Philadelphia Convention Center for more than three weeks after the May 9 attacks in Philadelphia.
The CPAC conference, which was hosted in the nation’s capital from May 19 to 21, is one of the largest political gatherings in the United States.
CPAC attracts more than 30,000 attendees from across the country and its keynote speaker, former U,S.
presidential candidate Sen. Rand Paul (R.-KY), has been one of its most well-received speakers.
In the wake of the attacks, CPACT hosted an afternoon reception for guests in Washington’s Dupont Circle.
CPACT President David Bozell said that while the organization had “greatly enjoyed our recent experience in Washington,” it was also “very sad to see the Capitol and the city of Washington become a target of a coordinated terrorist attack.”
“We will continue to work with our friends in Congress and the Administration to continue to provide security and security protocols that will protect our conference participants and attendees, our delegates and attendees,” Bozells press release said.
CPACC officials are working to make sure that “we can maintain the conference in a way that ensures that we will provide an atmosphere that is safe for the conference, our attendees and our delegates,” he added.
According to the CPAC website, CPACA will be the official political organization for the annual conference, with “no political affiliation required,” meaning it will allow CPAC members to vote on its policy agenda, but it will not participate in any specific political campaigns.
