A reporter with the Associated Press’ Washington bureau was barred from entering the press room where President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were speaking on Monday in the East Room of the White House.
In the early hours of Monday morning, AP photographers were told by a member of the media to stay in their seats while the president and first wife spoke.
The photographer was told to stay away from the White Senate side of the building where Trump and his family are staying and that they would be in the press conference area.
The president and his wife were not at the podium when the first lady spoke.
The AP’s bureau chief in the District was also barred from the room.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the matter.
